PINK EMBASSY INTRODUCED TO THE POLITICAL PARTIES THE MANIFESTO FOR LGBTI RIGHTS IN ALBANIA

Tirana, June 12th 2017 – PINK Embassy, one of the leading organizations working to protect and advance the rights of the LGBTI community in Albania, began today a series of meetings with political parties in the country to deliver and to introduce to them the "The Manifesto for LGBTI rights".

These meetings are undertaken in the framework of LGBTI community engagement during the June 25th 2017 parliamentary elections to advocate with the political parties to include the LGBTI community priorities in their electoral programs.

The Manifesto was officially delivered today to Mrs. Kejdi Mehmetaj- vice chair of the Socialist Movement for Integration Party and Mrs. Floida Kërpaçi- head of the Youth Movement for Integration. In this meeting were presented the main points of the Manifesto, requesting their inclusion in the electoral program of this party in order to address them in the next assembly.

Pink Embassy received the support of Mrs. Mehmetaj, who guaranteed that the Socialist Movement for Integration will be committed to inclusion of these points in their program, stressing that the demands addressed by the LGBTI community are fundamental human rights and as such should be guaranteed and respected

The Manifesto for the LGBTI rights in Albania introductory tour will continue in the next days, with the main parties in the country such as SP, DP, PJIU, RP, UHRP, etc. but also with new parties such as LIBRA or CHALLENGE for Albania, to turn in allies of the demands and our cause for LGBTI issues.
